Needs and wants

A warm welcome aboard the good Leap ship to the Project Drawdown crew!
What are we doing today for a better tomorrow?
To celebrate B Corp Month, B Local Cornwall are holding a day of inspiration and collaboration at Falmouth University’s Launchpad on Tuesday 11th March.
Leap’s Simon Thomason is one of the speakers delivering a series of talks and workshops that will examine what B Corps are doing today for a better tomorrow. Simon will be diving deep and answering questions about the new evolved B Corp standards coming into force this year.

Work in progress — the design team has been sounding out ideas with a longterm client on bringing transformative systems and metaphors to life through infographics.
Fresh perspective on impact
We’ve been very lucky to have the lovely Federica Sasso interning with us for the past few months as part of her masters in Sustainable Environmental Management at the University of Plymouth. Her main focus was digging deep into our internal non-financial reports: our annual Impact Report, Client Disclosure Report, and three year Planet Positive Plan.

INSPIRATION
Be part of the solution
The UK’s largest gathering of future makers is back at the Eden Project from 26 – 28 March. Anthropy brings together responsible leaders and organisations to look at how to make the UK a better place. Founded on the principle that the future is a shared responsibility, Anthropy is a 3 day national gathering of leaders across sectors, which takes over the entire Eden Project in Cornwall, with 200+ sessions, led by 600+ speakers.
Matt is a member of the South West alliance committee and will also be involved in two different event sessions. We’re also looking forward to catching up with several clients past and present making the trip down here.
Is this what we want?
More than 1,000 musicians have come together to release Is This What You Want?, an album protesting the UK government’s proposed changes to copyright law.
The UK government proposed changing copyright law to allow AI companies to build their products using other people’s copyrighted work - music, artworks, text, and more - without a licence.
The album consists of recordings of empty studios and performance spaces, representing the impact the government’s proposals could have on musicians’ livelihoods.
You can see the complete list of musicians involved at www.isthiswhatwewant.com.
All profits from the album are being donated to the charity Help Musicians.

Travel through your ears
The Radio Lento podcast allows you to immerse yourself in the sound of a place. The sound of trees, the birds, the waves, the rain to take you somewhere else while you sleep, relax or work. It creates ‘postcards’ of 3D immersive sound — captured quiet from natural places.
What does a quiet night sky sound like? This episode is an hour of nighttime quiet in Looe, Cornwall, a few hours before dawn. The sea is nearby, and is subtly contributing to the background of this place, a sound-scene rich with textural and fabric-like sounds. Put some headphones on and drift away to the peaceful atmosphere of a Cornish coastal town as it sleeps under a quiet, wide open sky.
